Welcome to Jessica Green's personal page
As many of you know, I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma in early 2014, and spent the next year and a half of my life going through four surgeries, 6 months of chemo and 6 weeks of radiation. I was fortunate in that I had some of the best resources in the world to support me: the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and the amazing doctors and nurses there, and my family and friends. This is a pic of me with one of my wonderful friends - many of whom, like Lynne here, loved to try on my wig! The ongoing and ever changing research-based knowledge landscape that I experienced during that time was incredible and comforting to me, and with your help, I would like to support the continued progression of that reseach.
As some of you may not know, last year I also lost one of my oldest friends to this disease. Dana and I met in high school, and although we lived thousands of kilometers apart, she was one of those people that every time we saw each other again, it was like it had just been yesterday. Dana was a vibrant, energetic, fun and funny friend, wife, mother, daughter and career woman. She fought long and hard. And she lived every single moment that she had. So my run is also dedicated to Dana, and to us getting to a future where no one ever has to say that they lost a loved one to this desease.
Please support my fundraising efforts for this year's Canadian Breast Cancer FoundationCIBC Run for the Cure. By making a donation, you are joining a national movement in communities across Canada on Sunday, October 1, and helping to fund innovative research and patient support initiatives that help the 1 in 9 women expected to develop breast cancer in their lifetime.
The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation supports life-saving research, such as:
* Identifying new genetic factors that predispose people to breast cancer
* Using state of the art technology to design treatments for breast cancers that have spread to the brain and lungs
Your commitment supports the patient support initiatives and advancements in research that are ensuring women live longer, healthier lives after a breast cancer diagnosis.
Be a Changemaker by helping us reach our fundraising goal and donating today. Together, we can create a future without breast cancer.
Thank you for your generosity!
