Welcome to Rita Wares's personal page
On Sunday, October 1st I will be participating in the 2017 Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure. Breast cancer is a cause that deeply motivates me and I am excited to be contributing to Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation’s vision of creating a future without breast cancer. The money raised during the CIBC Run for the Cure helps to fund critical and groundbreaking research, education, and advocacy initiatives across the country. With an estimated 24,000 women and men diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017, I am glad to be helping to change those statistics—but I need your help to do it.
As most of you know I hAve been fighting breast cancer since I was diagnosed in June of 2013. After undergoing 7 surgeries, 16 weeks of Chemotherepy and 6 weeks of daily radiation treatments I can say I am cancer free!!!
However the scary part is just 5 years ago I would have not had the great treatments that I had, and I would not be cancer free.
This really scares me because look at what five years can do. with all of us working hard we may be able to beat cancer completely in five years!!
Lets all do whAt we can to make this happen.!!
Come and join me on October 1 as we walk the 5k to celebrate my victory and to support the many others going through their personal battles. Last year was a real turning point for me as the support that I received really helped motivate in my healing process. This year I will walk the 5 k , not coming in last place like 2015, but walk with my team, with pride very happy that I can celebrate with my family and friends.
If you can't join me on Oct 1 perhap you can make a donation to my team so we can meet our fundraising goals. Everything helps!! The money spent on research saved my life!!!
You can make a difference too by supporting me in my fundraising efforts. Together, we can help support Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation funded researchers like Dr. Michelle Cotterchio. She is studying how dietary choices can reduce the risk of breast cancer and hoping to develop new strategies for prevention. Dr. Cotterchio is just one of many innovative researchers that we can help to make an impact on breast cancer by raising funds during the 2017 CIBC Run for the Cure. If you’d like to see more ways in which your support is making a difference, take a look Your Impact at www.cibcrunforthecure.com.
Please donate to me and support my fundraising efforts. Together, we can help to create a future without breast cancer.
